Photographer’s tip
As a photographer, I found myself in many instances when I need to send large photo files to someone else. For heavy transfers , direct emails is not an option. You can use a FTP protocol There are many options available out there to allow to send large files free of charge . Over the last 5 years , I have used over a dozen of those sites. Some of them do not exist anymore or changed names after a merger. But for the last 2 years , I have enjoyed www.wetransfer.com and I can say that this has been the smoothest one I have used so far.Of course , they offer you a better option with a fee but this is not obtrusive and you can see your files downloading in a few minutes.

Traveler’s tip
If you follow my blog regularly, you know that I always recommend you make sure you get a seat assignment when flying coach ( especially long distance). While there are always some seats blocked that cannot be assigned (exit row seats, seats reserved for frequent flyers..) there are normally still a selection to be made. Unfortunately, as mentioned in one of my recent posts , some airlines are now trying to charge you a fee for making that seat assignment when purchasing your ticket ( Shame on you Swiss airlines !). However, I still think it is worth the expense. Today , I would like to point you to a very useful site that gives you lots of details on each seat in the plane . You want to know which row have more legroom , which seats have a electric plug. Once you have your airline and flight number , you can find all of this information on seatguru.com. In these times when airlines seem to invent new tricks to make your flight more unpredictable and more stressful , it is nice to know where to find the information to make your journey a more pleasant one.
