and a little about me too…
Purpose
This blog took a long time for me to come through. There seems to be so many blogs on the net that I first wondered why I should bother making another one. But, as an avid reader and full-time photographer , it appeared to me that there are not that many blogs that provide the information that I need or am looking for when preparing a trip.
Photography is not only my occupation , it is the biggest passion in my life. The subjects I like to photograph require extensive traveling and , as a consequence, I spent a fair amount of time in airports, train stations. I strongly believe that one of the best ways to avoid unnecessary stress when traveling is knowing how to avoid agonizing over unexpected occurrences which are bound to develop when one is traveling (especially on long or multiple-legs trips).
About who I am
I have been involved in Photography since I turned 18 and started photographing a full time photographer 10 years ago. Prior to that, I had been working in corporate environment for about 20 years. Over the last two decades, my work consists mostly of creating black & white images of women and street/travel subjects.
Everyone who has dealt with me either professionally or on a personal level keeps telling me how detail-oriented I am and are very often amused (or, to be honest, sometimes annoyed ) by all the little things that I notice.
Since the 90’s, I was brought to travel very frequently, mostly by plane. Wether I was traveling as an executive or as a photographer, it became quickly clear to me that a majority of people traveling add some stress to their journey by packing too much or too little, by not knowing which places to see and which ones to avoid. Sometimes, those details are enough to ruin a trip.
Part of a successful trip in many instances is knowing what to pack and this blog will have lots of articles and reviews about bags and hiking stuff.
Although I was born and raised in France , I spent most of my adult life living in the USA. As such you will see that a lot of the travel tips, places to see,.. are concentrated on the North America and European continents. I also have a passion for Asia. Nowadays, I am in a nutshell a world traveler and intends to give this blog a very wide geographical coverage.
Something to know about the Camera reviews on this blog
I have been a photographer for over 25 years. Half of this was devoted to shoot on Medium format film cameras. When I switched to dgital this influenced a lot some of the choices that I made. One thing, though, remained constant during all this time : I am a still Photographer and have very little interest in video shooting. For this reason, I will not cover the video capabilities of the equipment I review, since my knowledge for it is very limited.
More than just a blog
This blog is intended on evolving based on my traveler’s experiences and readers feedback. Feel free if you have any constructive feedback and/or criticisms to use the contact email provided on this blog. You can also share related travel experience and I will contact you back if I think some of it should be included in this blog.
